How to Fit Being Healthy Into Your Busy schedule

Im going to start off ambitious and say you should aim to make healthy choices daily. I know it may not seem like this is a possibility with how crazy hectic your days are, but trust me you can do it! Taking care of our bodies is so important to keeping them running well! We will be more productive so it’s worth it.

Get Juicing

One of the easiest ways for me to add good choices into my day is through juicing. This is my ideal drink snack in the morning and in the afternoon. It’s so easy to grab and bring on your walk to work, have sitting on your desk, or to be sipping on it while you answer emails. Plus it’s SO much better for you than soda! For me, when I’m on the go I tend to eat easy mainly bland meals because I just don’t have the time to put something elaborate together. Unfortunately this means veggies/fruits may be left out of my meals! Juicing just makes getting your daily needs in so much easier. Whether you buy them store made, or you enjoy the process of making your own, juices are amazing.

Lets get Physical

Getting active makes me feel so much more energetic! And with my life, having a baby, I need all the extra energy I can get. Its scientifically proven that getting active will give you more energy, so it’s just up to you to pick your method! My personal favourites have always been jogging, I even used to run track back in my high school days! That’s how much I love running. Other favourites are swimming, weight lifting (using my son as weight sometimes when I can’t hit the gym) and long walks. I also used to train martial arts, which probably gives the best all around workout and is the most fun! You can fit a 45 min class into your schedule 4/5 days a week I’m sure! It’s all about probities and managing your time.

I suggest switching up your activities to find something that totally distracts you from your stressful life. Pick an activity that stops your mind from going over check lists of things to complete!

Get into a routine

While having a baby can help with this, I need a personal routine as well or I forget to do things/lose track of time. I have set things I do during nap time, such as blog research, social media promotion, and responding to emails. Every now and than I’ll use part of a nap to relax and do something for me (Like reading a book, or catching up on a show. My days are pretty planned, we go for 1-2 walks a day in the stroller sometimes heading to a park. These walks are great for taking pictures and practicing my photography. When the hubs is home, we also use these walks to shoot outfit posts. At night I usually have an hour or two to write my blog posts, edit pictures for various shoots and do any house chores. Having a routine keeps my stress down, makes sure everything gets done, and ensures I’ve made time for healthier choices.

Plan Your time

My daytimer is my best friend. I plan my entire life in this book, from what tasks I need to complete on a daily basis, hubby’s work trips, baby activities, and just fitting in my gym time. She days are so busy that I forget what day it is, so having a book that keeps everything straight for me is a lifesaver.  This book honestly saves me so much stress and frustration with forgetting things, that it keeps me much happier and a happy mind goes a long way towards a happy body!

Other Healthy Things you can do:

-Take the stairs instead of the elevator

-Wake up and fit a quick 15 min workout in (do some crunches, jumping jacks and push ups)

-Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, I personally like to keep a water bottle next to me and finish it before I go to eat anything

-Keep healthy snacks in the fridge, make those your go to instead of chips

Best Ways to Pamper Yourself at Home! Why to Make Time for Yourself

No matter your role in life, we all need a little pampering every now and then! Some more than others, but still. As a new mom, while still being a student; it can get exhausting. At the end of each day I feel drained. The best way to combat this is to reward yourself with a little extra care, you deserve it! No matter the size of your budget or free time, there’s so many way to pamper yourself. Self care is such an important part of life, and I feel so many of us neglect ourselves while caring for others. Toronto today is a mixture of cold rain and fog, meaning I could use something to brighten my day!

All these method will be geared to at home relaxation. Here’s my favourite ways to pamper myself!

Long hot bath

Whatever your go to be, whether it’s bath bombs, bubble baths, those fancy baths filled with flower petals (I really want to try one…), soaking in epson salts, or even if you’re a shower person. Take the time to be alone with the hot water. Bring a good book, put some relaxing music on, try a new body wash face or hair mask and just relax. Turn off your phone, block out whatever is going on outside that bathroom door- take some time for yourself. I try to do these once a week, either after my son is in bed, or while he’s playing with his dad. This is the perfect beginning to my tan routine too!

Face/Hair Mask

If you don’t have the time for a full bath, skip it and just do a hair/face mask. These can be done in 30 mins. Perks is that you can also be doing something else while doing this. There are times where I’m also reading a new book, flipping through a good magazine, catching up on my Netflix, or even writing a blog post. Pick an activity that you will enjoy for those 30 mins.

Spa/Salon

There are so many options here! My personal favourite is to go get a mani pedi. Of course I do enjoy a good massage every now and then too. I usually go for a mani pedi because you get a little foot massage and hand massage at the same time. Plus who doesn’t love new nails! I compiled all the nail styles I’m hoping to try this summer here.

Go to the Gym

For some, this may be a chore and not considered pampering yourself, but I love the gym atmosphere. I love being able to have time all to myself, where I can plug in to my music and just workout. After my workouts I always feel so awake and refreshed, especially when I relax in the sauna afterwards. We have a gym in our condo building, which is super convenient. If I’m not able to head down to the gym, I love to create my own little yoga studio in the living room! I’ll be making a whole post on this coming up, but I set up my yoga mat, blocks, and straps. I light some candles, put my essential oil dispenser on, turn on some relaxing music and practice my poses.

Head to the Pool

In our condo I’m lucky enough that we have a pool and two hot tubs with jets. This is by far my favourite way to unwind after a long day. Swimming laps is a great workout and super easy on your body. The hot tubs are super relaxing, I usually tilt my head back and close my eyes and enjoy the 15 minutes of silence. Sometimes even 30 mins if I’m wanting more. Naturally I also try to sit in the sauna for a bit afterwards!

Play With Makeup

This one for me is all about having fun. I love to watch my favourite youtuber and try to mimic their everyday looks. It might just be me, but I love looking at all my makeup spread out all over the counter, and playing with different colours and styles that I wouldn’t normally try. Plus I always love how I look afterwards, which is great for spamming my snapchat, and taking pictures for my blog or my instagram!    To check out my current summer makeup favourites, read it here!

Nice cup of Tea

Tea is definitely my warm drink of choice. I’ve never really been a coffee girl, but I do like hot chocolate in the deep of winter. I personally lean more towards herbal and fruity teas, and I keep a drawer stocked full at all times. I usually have about 10 different loose leaf tea on hand for whatever suits my mood. I’ll be writing all about these teas soon! One tea is actually my secret weapon to clearer skin.

Why It’s Important to Pamper Yourself

Guaranteed you make time for others during the day, if not every day of the week. It’s important to take time for yourself, and focus on your own self care. You cant pour from an empty cup! I personally always feel so much better after I’ve taking some time to relax, and do something I actually want to do for myself. Taking time to pamper yourself is super important for both your mental and physical health. Let me know what you do to unwind in the comments, I’m always looking for new ways!

Summer Products- Everything You Need To Be Summer Ready Skin, Makeup & Hair

Favourite Summer Products

Getting ready for Summer is so different than getting ready for any other season. You have to be ready to battle the heat and humidity while trying to maintain your skin, hair, makeup, and tan. Here are the best products to help you out!

Perfume

My go summer scent right now is this! It’s a little hard to find but Amazon has some!

Hair

we all know how the summer humidity can take a toll on our hair. Plus its super hot out and who really wants to be taking out their hairdryer, straightener or curling rod? Not me. But I also don’t want my hair to be a big mess or in a perpetual bun all summer long. Here are the best products to make your hair look great with minimal effort!

Sea Salt Spray

This gives me the lust worthy beauty waves that I see all over Pinterest and Instagram! All I do it spray a bit into my hands after my shower and crunch it into my hair. Then I go about my getting ready routine, which includes getting dressed, makeup and lounging around till I actually leave.

Argan oil

This gives me pretty straight hair without the iron! It also makes my hair smell fantastic. I again spray this into my hand, and comb it through my hair with my fingers, then I brush it out leaving my hair wet but brushed straight. My hair will actually stay this straight for 2 days after doing this. This is by far the best product to give you straight hair without the iron!

Style Holder

If you are going to brave and heat up your whole bathroom, firstly I give you respect, second I’ll tell you about a product that will lock in your style! Beat the humidity with this style holder, I got mine from Sephora.

Hair Ties

Hands down this is the most important thing in your bag or on your wrist. I keep a few hanging out in the bottom of my purse and I keep one on my wrist pretty much all the time. If you’re at the beach, or even walking around the city being able to throw your hair up in a pony tail or a bun is essential. Props if they are also cute and can double as a bracelet!

Skin

Tan

I love being tan in the summer, and although I’m pale and can’t naturally achieve this look; I’ve found a great routine that I’ve been using for 2+ years, check it out here. I bounce back and fourth between two brands, and I share all my pro tips that I’ve learned from my tanning experiences! Use my code “TayylorTan” to receive a free mitt with any mousse purchase! Shop here.

Masks

I like to have serval different masks that I rotate through. Ill be posting about all them shortly! To see my general skin care routine check it out here. Right now I’m using ones from Shoppers! They have a whole wall of single use masks. They are super cheap, my skin loves them, and I love having a selection to choose from! I’m thinking of doing a whole post on face masks, and reviewing the shoppers ones.

Makeup

Tinted moisturizer

There are so many different brands, you really have to find one that works for your skin! My top choice is the Nars. The lightest shade is the perfect colour for me when I’m a little tan. If I have a darker tan on I’ll use a darker powder and play with some bronzer.  I picked mine up at Sephora.

Mascara

I have 3 that I love, and I use daily throughout the year. They are Smashbox, Buxom, and Rimmel. Sadly none of these are water proof. In the summer, to stop my sweat from making my mascara run, I use waterproof options! I haven’t found a holy grail option yet, so if you have one leave it in the comments below! My favourite so far is the Orange on pictures, LashBlast Volume by CoverGirl.

Water Spray

This is an amazing product to throw in your purse, beach bag,and just keep with you all summer long. What is is a can of water that will spray on your face/body to refresh you in the deep summer heat! This is my lifesaver in the summer, a lil spritz on my face, back of my neck and I’m completely refreshed.

Setting Spray

Sweat, Water Splashes, Rain, or even a Tornado could not move my makeup after I use this setting spray. This is my secret weapon in the deep of summer, when I’m going to the beach or anywhere where I fear my makeup may smudge or run. Two sprays and my face is protected. I have both the large size which stays on the counter, and the smaller size which I usually keep in my bag incase I forgot to spray or want to touch up.

Primer Water

I use this in combination with the setting spray above for those super hot, humid days or if I’m going to the beach. This just adds another layer of protection and keeps my makeup looking great all day long.

Makeup Remover

In the summers I tend to wear less makeup because I had the feeling of too much on my face in the scorching heat.

Bioderma water

This miricell water takes all my makeup off so easily. It doesn’t dry out my skin or leave it oily, and it’s super easy to pack in a beach bag. I keep this in my bag with a few cotton pads incase I need to take it all of-like if I’m going to be spending the day in the pool or the lake!

Makeup Removing wipes

Easier way to take off all your makeup with no fuss. Take out a wipe, & wipe your entire face before cleansing. I ran out of my clean and clear wipes, so I’m using baby wipes. These are great to keep in your bag incase you need to take off your makeup without it smudging everywhere. For instance if you’re going to the beach to swim, or to the pool and you don’t want to end up with racoon eyes.

Design My Dream Office With Me & A little About Me

As my blog grows, so does my love of writing for it. I never thought I would fall this much in love with writing and creating content . I never excelled in writing or english classes in school. In fact my best university essays were all fact based, never my opinion pieces. To learn more, check out my About Me page. Going forward I want to take my blog more seriously and try to dedicate more time to it! Not that I haven’t taken it seriously before, but I treated it like a hobby and not like a business. While we currently don’t have the space for me to have my own office, I dream of having one… In the near future I’m hoping we’ll move to a bigger place, where I’ll have a dedicated space to work on my writing.  Every business needs an office right?!

I’ve had Pinterest for a while now, and even though I don’t currently have an office space, I do have a Pinterest board. I love to see others work spaces and gain inspiration. Let’s get to it, here are pictures that inspire me and make want to take over a room in a house and go crazy at home sense!

The Door

Lets start with how you enter the room, I like things clean, white and modern for the most part. But I love a pair of classic french doors!

The Chair

Ideally, I’ll have a few hours during the day to write while logan naps, and time to write and work out ideas at night while he sleeps. The chair will need to stylish, functional and super comfortable. And of course swivel for fun !

Office Organization

In my office things will need to be kept tidy and out of the way. There’s nothing more anyone than looking for something and not being able to find it. Especially if I’m on a Skype or business call, and I can’t find the document I’m looking for; how embarrassing and stressful! I’m not so much of a gold person, so accents would be blue or silver!
I also like the look of glass jars filled with things, this is an interesting presentation of my shopaholic ways! Plus I’d know where all my receipts are in case I need to make a return.

The Desk

Arguably one of the most important items in the office, this would be where I sit, and potentially take some flat lay pictures on. I currently can’t decide between these two. I love the look of the glass with the white base, but I also like the metal frame of the other desk. Swap that gold for silver and it may be a winner!

Desk Accessories

We all want our desks to look pretty without looking cluttered. I would need a lamp, pad and paper (because I’m old school and prefer pen to paper for jotting down my ideas), and cute nic nacks.

Fresh Flowers

Something about having real fresh flowers totally makes any room better. I love the look and small of them, plus the whole routine of going to the market to pick them out is very relaxing! Plus they make a great addition to any picture.

Art

Whether it be a vision board, styled up book shelf, or a painting on the wall; any art is good art! I love pieces that inspire me and that I won’t get tired of looking at. Vision boards are cool because they are 100% by you and can switched up to continue inspiring you as you need to. The book shelf here is so unique, and functional because I would love to take a break and read any of these choices! Plus its a statement wall as well.

The Lounger

I admit, this is totally not necessary in an office, but I have to have it! This would be one of my favourite places to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book to read, or my laptop and a blog post I’m writing. Especially next to a large window!

Office Goals…

If I ever have a closet large enough to double as my office space… I wouldn’t complain! Or even better, my super large closet is full, and I have extra space in my office to display my favourite key pieces. This set up would be great for try on videos, or if I were to create a seasonal look book….hmm theres an idea 😉
